A Lot of Tenor
This page contains "a lot of tenor" solos...mostly my tenor solos. I apologize for this shameless self-promotion, but Heck! It is my website and I am trying to get a few gigs, so please forgive me. Most of the tracks on this page are extracted from longer recordings that feature AMAZING MUSICIANS like my great mentor and inspiration, Von Freeman, Art Hoyle, Willie Pickens, John Campbell, Brian Sandstrom, Dan Shapera, Robert Shy, and many others. Many of these tracks are "live" takes, though, and I do not feel comfortable "giving-away" other people's music-even though I am very comfortable with "giving-away" my saxophone solos.
The first link is very special. It is a link to a National Public Radio broadcast on New Years Eve 2010-2011. This was one of Von Freeman's last public musical performances. This was broadcast live from the Green Mill in Chicago. It features Von with the "Green Mill All-Stars" (Willie Pickens-piano, Brian Sandstrom-bass, Robert Shy-drums, and Edward Petersen-saxophone). Von sounds AMAZING!
Please note that there are many other recordings available on the Free Lead Sheets and Recordings and Free Saxophone Quartet Music pages
I plan to update this page regularly with live takes and home studio productions, so please visit this page again soon.
Thanks, Ed
